Can you believe the seventh season of "The Voice" is over?

It only seemed like yesterday when it was announced that Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams would be joining this season's edition. And now, it appears it ended without both new coaches' team members making it to the final four. Oh well, there's always Season 8 for Pharrell. Gwen will, however, be replaced next season by Christina Aguilera, who had been part of the show since the first season and for a total of 4 seasons.

Tuesday night found Team Adam Levine and Team Blake Shelton battling it out for the coveted prize. The Maroon 5 frontman's victory appeared to be assured as 3 of the 4 finalists belonged to his group - Matt McAndrew, Damien Lawson and Chris Jamison.

Meanwhile, Blake entered the final round with only Craig Wayne Boyd soldiering on for him. Even the country music artist himself said that he wasn't as certain that his bet would win, although he liked having an "underdog."

"I don't know how much confidence I have. I feel like Craig did everything he could possibly do to win this thing. I don't know what's going to happen," Blake revealed, as quoted by the Los Angeles Times.

Turns out, America appeared to like the underdog, too.

"In the end, only one star could walk away with The Voice title and it was Craig Wayne Boyd from Team Blake," Time reported.

"Boyd, the 35-year-old singer from Nashville, Tennessee, hooked the country's vote and proved he had what it took to become America's next musical superstar after belting 'Sweet Home Alabama' on stage with the iconic Lynyrd Skynyrd," the news source went on to say.

Craig is Blake's fourth "The Voice" champion, with the others being "soul/R&B singer Jermaine Paul, pop-country singer Cassadee Pope and the show's youngest winner, 18-year-old country darling Danielle Bradbery," as noted by Rolling Stone.

This recent victory has put Blake at the forefront of the show's coaches, with 4 wins. Adam had scored 2 wins in the past, while Usher earned one in the last season during his 2nd judging stint on the singing competition.

"While it remains to be seen how Boyd will fare commercially and on the country charts, his win is further proof of the genre's solidifying place in pop culture. Along with Pope and Bradbery, he is the third country singer to triumph on The Voice," the entertainment news source pointed out.

The newly-crowned winner of the show had recently revealed that he had almost given up on his dream a year ago.

"I remember a little more than a year ago sitting in a pickup outside of a club after I had played to basically no one and talking to my drummer and saying, 'Listen, I may have to quit because it's not paying my bills and I'm losing my house,'" Craig shared, USA Today noted. "I lost my pickup. I didn't know what I was going to do. And him telling me, 'Dude, you can't do that.'"

"And then randomly the opportunity (came) up to go audition a few months out for The Voice and I was like, 'You know what? You ought to go do that,'" he added.

And, as we all can see, he went on to win the competition.
