Previously, Idina Menzel, the voice of Queen Elsa in the hit animated film, had revealed that "Frozen 2" is "in the works," as noted by Variety. She is hoping that the movie will indeed happen, although she's not sure whether she can still be involved in it.

However, Disney has not confirmed this bit of news yet, so anything can happen (or not happen). It's been officially announced, though, that "Frozen Fever" - an animated short film that is not a sequel - will be released in March 2015.

This lack of confirmation has not dampened hopes and anticipation of a "Frozen" part 2, though, as well as the numerous speculations on what the sequel will be like.

"After looking through the original inspiration for 'Frozen' - the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale 'The Snow Queen' - the potential plots for 'Frozen 2' might be very dark!" Moviepilot mused.

"There is an evil troll with a magic mirror that makes everyone see things as bad and ugly," the site recalled. "There is a Snow Queen who kidnaps children and has bee minions."

"The heroine is brain washed and kidnapped...Twice!" Moviepilot continued.

It's possible to use the mirror plot in the sequel. It could be made to break into a thousand small splinters and get into the hearts and eyes of the people of Arendelle, as originally laid out in the tale the movie was based on. Then, a series of chaotic events will unfold, calling for a need for a heroine to come and save the day.

Now, how would Queen Elsa or Princess Anna do just that? Any suggestions?

It could also be that the mirror plot be treated with yet another twist, in that the fragments get into the Snow Queen's heart and turn her into an unwitting villain. She could then go on to unleash those bee minions and cause other forms of mayhem, like kidnapping a new heroine in the story and making her solve difficult puzzles or go through tests.

However, given that a considerable portion of the potential sequel's audience would be kids, it is also possible that Disney will stick to a rather more wholesome angle. Or it could take a risk and "possibly go a little darker with its story in order to tell something that feels new," as suggested by Enstars.

It is worth pointing out, though, that the original Andersen story ends on a positive note. As such, it can be expected that the sequel will also end similarly.
