Previously, Ariana Grande was under fire for her allegedly diva-like behavior, insisting on being photographed at a certain angle and stepping out of a fan meet-and-greet without explanation.

All that diva talk had gradually subsided in the past couple of weeks, overshadowed in part by new song releases from the pint-sized pop star.

However, the "Break Free" singer was under attack yet again from a fellow pint-sized singing star. This time, Ari was slammed for her raunchy performances by no less than an entertainment industry veteran - Bette Midler.

"It's terrible! It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch, looking so ridiculous," Bette told The Telegraph. "I mean, it's silly beyond belief and I don't know who's telling her to do it. I wish they'd stop."

"But it's not my business, I'm not her mother. Or her manager. Maybe they tell them that's what you've got to do. Sex sells. Sex has always sold," she added. "Trust your talent. You don't have to make a whore out of yourself to get ahead. You really don't."

Meanwhile, an insider reportedly close to the "Problem" singer said that the 21-year-old diva got "shocked and offended" by Bette's comments. She was also allegedly confused by the remarks, as the 68-year-old actress "did practically the same thing in the Seventies," MailOnline noted.

Ari had also since taken it unto herself to respond to the diss with the following tweet: "Bette was always a feminist who stood for women being able to do whatever the F they wanted without judgement! not sure where that Bette went but I want that sexy mermaid back!!! always a fan no matter what my love."

Ariana's Twitter post was accompanied by a photo of Bette in a skimpy two piece outfit adorned with pearls and fake flowers.

"And I will still quote first wives club every single day of my life lmao," Ari's succeeding tweet also read.

At this, Entertainment Tonight commented that Ariana's "classy response" is likely to end the "turmoil" between her and Bette. True enough, the publication's prediction later proved accurate.

Not long after Ari posted her response, the "First Wives Club" star tweeted a sort of apology to the younger singer, Billboard said.

"About my screed on @ArianaGrande , all I can say is, 'Spoken like a reformed old whore! She does have a beautiful voice, on a couch or off,'" Bette's tweet read.

All's well that ends well!
