Sure, you want the best Black Friday deals, but when there's a host of retailers laying a claim to that bragging right and offering eye-popping deals, it's hard to focus on where you could get the best bargains. Rather, you'd probably go for the shops nearest to you and just have your fill of the holiday shopping fever there.

The good news is that a recent survey made by WalletHub managed to reveal which among the "biggest retailers" is offering huge discounts.

According to Lifehacker, the following stores have the highest average discounts:

1. JCPenney (65%)

2. Macy's (54%)

3. Rite Aid (53%)

4. Meijer (51%)

5. Sears (50%)

6. Walgreens (47%)

7. Office Depot and OfficeMax (44%)

8. Ace Hardware (41%)

9. Kohl's (40%)

10. Staples (39%)

However, this is not to say that the discounts are true for all departments. There's a different ranking when it comes to which retailers give the best deals for, say, electronics or apparel.

For things electronic, as well as computers, it would appear that Office Depot and OfficeMax offer the highest average discounts at 40.63%. Meanwhile, Staples takes 2nd place with 35.30%, while RadioShack comes at a close third with 34.67%. Walmart is fourth at 34.07% and Kohl's fifth with 32.41%.

Syracuse.com noted that "the overall average discount for Black Friday is 39 percent." As such, WalletHub recommended that "consumers should aim for discounts of at least that much or greater to avoid Black Friday 'traps' - going for a deal that isn't really much of a deal."

That goes to say that if your retailer of choice is indeed offering deals upwards of 39%, you're getting a real bang for your buck.

WalletHub's survey revealed that, among various products, toys got the biggest share of the discounts at 25.90%. Meanwhile, 16.04% of the discounts can be found in apparel and accessories, while 10.39% of the discounts are concentrated in computers and phones.

It would also appear that jewelry get the deepest discount at 58%. Books, movies, and music are second at 52%, while apparel and accessories, as well as consumer-packaged goods, tie at third with 48%.

So, where can you possible find the best Black Friday discounts for apparel and accessories? Sears tops the list at 69.02%, while JC Penney is second with an average of 62.62% discount. Macy's is not a far third with 62.34%, while Kohl's keeps abreast with 58.28%. Target rounds up the top 5 with 57.51%.

For toys, Kohl's apparently is your best bet, based on WalletHub's findings. The retailer offers an average of 48.18% in discounts, while CVS Pharmacy averages at 35.10%. AAFES (34.95%), Target, (33.87%), and Meijer (33.43%) complete the top 5 in this category.
