Is Angelina Jolie saying goodbye to acting?

Recently, the A-list actress revealed that she is planning to give up acting and concentrate on directing - something she is doing more of in the past 4 years.

"I've never been comfortable as an actor; I've never loved being in front of the camera," the Oscar-winning actress shared to DuJour. "I didn't ever think I could direct, but I hope I'm able to have a career at it because I'm much happier."

When asked whether she's planning to "give up acting entirely," the mother-of-six answered, "Absolutely."

Before Angelina fans start mourning over her statement, know that she is actually not retiring from acting just yet. At least not now.

"I see myself moving into directing more and doing much less as an actor," the "Maleficent" star told Entertainment Weekly. "I have a few more in me, ones I have been developing for some time, so I will do those before I step away."

Meanwhile, she was also quoted by Time as saying the following about moving further into being a filmmaker: ""I love directing, I'm much happier directing. I like following a project all the way through. I like spending two years on something and learning about it... I like being pushed mentally to have to learn so much and be a part of every single aspect of a production."

With that, it won't be surprising if the movies that headline Angie from this day forward will be avidly watched by more audiences, considering her days in the acting world are numbered.

Currently, she is working on "By the Sea," which Angelina "wrote, directed and starred in alongside new husband Brad Pitt," Entertainment Weekly said.

"It's a heavy film, and it's not easy for us," she told DuJour. "But even as you struggle through it, you're in the trenches together and you don't expect it to be easy. We're challenging each other and that's a really good thing."

"The tricky thing is directing myself and directing Brad. It's hard, dramatic material, and we're balancing," she also shared.

The Guardian had noted that the "Unbroken" director may make a "planned appearance as Cleopatra" her final role as an actress.

"It's one of those that you think maybe that's the one you put everything into and that's where you end it, that's where you finish - in a great way," she was quoted by the British publication as saying. "What could you do beyond that one?"
