"The Conjuring" was a critical and box office success, which naturally called for a sequel. And now, we've got wind of news about "The Conjuring 2" plot, which is said to involve a poltergeist.

"'The Conjuring 2' is based on the real life events that took place in the 1970's in a suburb in London, England," MoviePilot said. "Single mother Margaret Hodgson and her four children (who ranged from 7 to 13) were plagued by intense Poltergeist activity."

"The children experienced shaking beds, moving drawers, mysterious knocking, levitation and flying toys. There were a series of investigations by different paranormal groups into the phenomena, including an investigation by Ed and Lorraine Warren," the site continued. "The Warrens' determined that the events were not caused by a haunted house, but instead was caused by spirits attached to the children, particularly the 11 year old girl, Janet."

The sequel has been officially titled "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist."

This update appears to contradict earlier reports pointing at a possession plot.

According to Ain't It Cool, hints about the storyline of the sequel have been gleaned by one who had joined an "intimate gathering" at the residence of none other than Lorraine Warren, the person on which a key character in "The Conjuring" is based upon.

According to the source, "the case file they're looking at occurs in the late '70s and centers on two sisters in Enfield, England, who were allegedly possessed."

"Warren said she personally saw them levitate and even saw one of the sister dematerialize in front of her only to be found 20 minutes later stuffed into an oversized fuse box, contorted in such an unnatural way that they couldn't have replicated it if they tried," the site went on to say. "She also said that the demon spoke directly to her husband on many occasions. Warren cited this case as one of the most terrifying experiences of her career."

It looks like the movie makers have gone on a different route.

For part twi, Chad and Carey Hayes have been contracted to do the script. They're the same duo who did the screenplay for the original movie, CrossMap said. James Wan will also be returning to direct the film, which is set to be released on June 10, 2016. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will reportedly be back to reprise their roles.

The Enfield poltergeist case drew much public interest due to the fact that some of the alleged poltergeist activity were fabricated by the children themselves. Many years later after the incident, Janet confessed that about "2 percent" of the phenomena were faked. However, she admitted that certain unexplainable things did happen to her.

"'The levitation was scary, because you didn't know where you were going to land. I remember a curtain being wound around my neck, I was screaming, I thought I was going to die," she was quoted as saying by MailOnline in 2011.
