Katy Perry's alleged boyfriend Diplo found himself in a public tiff with Lorde when he dissed Taylor Swift's rear. Could this "unprovoked attack" be inspired by Kim Kardashian's bootylicious Paper magazine cover? Or could it have been triggered partly by the fact that his rumored pop star girlfriend is not cool with Tay?
Well, whatever it is, he's been the subject of Lorde's wrath.
"On Wednesday, musician Diplo - who is now dating Perry, a sworn enemy of Swift - tweeted a comment about Swift's butt," Mashable said. "Twitter users responded by creating a Fundly campaign to raise $3,500 to 'get Taylor Swift a booty.' The average cost of a butt augmentation surgery is closer to $5,000. (The campaign had raised $85 at time of writing.)"
"Someone should make a kickstarter to get taylor swift a booty," Diplo's first tweet said.
"Body shaming myself right now," another tweet from regarding the subject said.
"Are taylor swift fans called the swift boat veterans?" he continued to post.
Then, he posted a link to a campaign called "Get Taylor Swift A Booty," which earned a response from Lorde.
"@diplo should we do something about your tiny p**** while we're at it hm," the Grammy-winning artist tweeted.
The "Yellow Flicker Beat" singer's response has since been regarded as "a strong, yet perfect, response to Diplo's questionable campaign," The Independent said. Lorde is known to be one of Taylor's BFFs and may also be "a woman who could potentially have a problem with mean-spiritedness and sexism."
According to MTV, another DJ, Zedd, found the exchange "amusing." He tweeted innumerable "laughing-till-you-cry" emoticons at the feuding pair. Perhaps he'll need some popcorn or fries with that?
Meanwhile, Buzzfeed noted that Diplo and Lorde were actually friends once. He had Instagrammed a photo of the New Zealand-based artist more than a year ago, showing her posing next to what appears to be french fries assembled to look like a kiwi. About a couple of months ago, Lorde had posted a photo of her on a sea-bound outing with the DJ, who just did a remix of Lorde's "Tennis Court" then.
Hmmm, interesting.
Will this episode be the end of their connection? Or is this liaison what emboldened the 18-year-old to effectively put Diplo in his place?
The question now is: What does Taylor make of this episode? Will she write a song about him?
"We wouldn't be surprised if Taylor writes her next song about Katy's DJ boyfriend," Hollywood Life said. "Tay allegedly wrote the song 'Bad Blood' about Katy, and tends to write songs about people she has tense relationships with."
