Apple unveiled the iPhone 5 at a press conference yesterday, September 12. The event revealed that the reports and rumors around the internet in the months leading up to the Apple event mostly turned out to be right.
The iPhone 5 will have a 4-inch Retina display with a resolution of 1136X640 and 336 pixels per inch. It will also help debut Apple's new mobile operating system iOS 6 that will introduce Apple Maps, Facebook integration, and an improved Siri along with a host of other new features. The iPhone 5 will be able to access everything on your iCloud account and the incredibly rich Apple app store.
The iPhone 5 will be the first 4G LTE iPhone. The smartphone's camera will sport an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera that can record in 1080p and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for FaceTime HD in 720p.
Apple will also introduce the smaller, 9-pin 'Lightning' dock that will replace the older 30-pin dock. While this had some people concerned, rest assured that Apple is selling a Lightning to 30-pin adapter that will allow the new iPhone to work with older accessories.
The iPhone 5 is what some analysts have described as the biggest consumer handset launch in history. Some have even predicted that Apple could sell as much as 10 million units within a week.
