With Apple's latest smartphone officially announced to the public, the reviews are flowing in and the iPhone 5 has so far ganered a good amount of positive reviews
The iPhone 5 is confirmed to feature a Retina Display screen of 4-inches with a resolution of 1136x640, two cameras with eight-megapixels on the rear and two-megapixels on the front, 4G LTE, iOS 6, and new dock connector with Lightning.
The Associated Press's technology writer Michael Liedtke believes if Steve Jobs was still around, he "would have been delighted" with the iPhone 5.
"For many people, the iPhone is going to be a case of love at first touch. It's incredibly light and seems to be easier to hold. That means it might not be dropped as frequently as previous iPhones, reducing the chances of the glass on the display screen getting damaged," reviewed Liedtke.
He added, "Apple also has equipped the iPhone 5 with a superior sound system, courtesy of the new headphones that the company says it spent three years developing. The headphones, called "EarPods," are a vast improvement on the ear buds that Apple has been giving away with its devices for more than a decade."
Patrick Goss of TechRadar shared a similar review to Liedtke's take on the device being "comfortable."
"In the hand the Apple iPhone 5 certainly feels comfortable. You can see why Apple decided to keep the width the same, since it fits the hand nicely - just as its predecessors have."
Goss noted the the decision to step away from the glass to aluminium addes to the "premium feel" of the device.
"On first impressions, Apple has delivered a handset that looks - and feels - very good indeed."
The display, again, gets a good review, this time from The Telegraph's Shane Richmond.
"The extent of the redesign of the new iPhone only really becomes clear once you hold it in your hand."
Richmond even compared the screen to Samsung's Galaxy S3, "The biggest change, literally, is the larger screen. Here, I'm thankful that Apple opted not to go wider. Samsung's Galaxy S3 is too big for my taste and I think Apple is right to say that the width of the iPhone is right for the average hand."
Wired's Christina Bonnington also made a Samsung reference in her review. She stated how "crazy light" the new iPhone 5 compared to "plasticky" Samsung phones such as the Galaxy S3, "yet it doesn't feel cheap.
"The 4-inch, 326 PPI display is just as dazzling as it was when it was first introduced on the iPhone 4 two years ago, but the extra screen real estate gives you more room to appreciate it. Colors are bright and rich (it has 44 percent more color saturation than the 4S), text is expectedly crisp, and high-resolution images look stunning. The added fifth row of app icons on the homescreen feels completely natural," reviewed Bonnington.
The iPhone 5 will be released in the US, UK, and Canada on Sept. 21, with prices going for $199 for 16GB. $299 for 32GB, $399 for 64GB when signing a contract with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon. For T-Mobile, as with previous iPhones, it will not carry the iPhone 5.
