In October 2014, Microsoft introduced new features on the Xbox One, involving Snap Center, Friends, Achievements, TV functions and more.

Accoring to IGN.com, the Xbox One November system update started introducing the new features to all consoles, such as custom backgrounds, being able to Tweet gameplay clips, gamer profile additions and more. In the same IGN report, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, previously shared via podcast that Microsoft is developing these features:

1. Custom backgrounds

MajorNelson.com reported that players now have the ability to customize the background of their Xbox One. Every account on the game console can feature a customized background by choosing a custom theme, color or achievement art. These will appear whenever gamers sign in using their account. The Media Player app can also be used to select a PNG or JPG image from a USB-attached drive or home media server that can support DLNA. Press the "Menu" button while viewing the full screen of a photo then select "Set as background".

2. Tweeting game clips

Players can also share their in-game clips via Twitter. Create a game clip then use the "Share" button to compose a Tweet then share the image with friends online.

3. Gamer profile

Players can further share their current bio and location as part of their profile, based on the same Major Nelson report. The options on the Xbox One and Xbox One SmartGlass may be used to browse other people's profiles and view their showcase items. Showcase items that are displayed may also be selected when others view your profile on the console. The console and SmartGlass can be used to remove up to six achievements or game clips presented in a carousel format.

4. Watching TV in a new way

VG247.com reported that players can find new shoes and also read other people's comments about these in real-time using the new Live TV and Twitter integration feature. Some of the things to look forward to include the Live TV Trending, Twitter TV Trending, Tweets in MiniGuide and Recents and Favorites in MiniGuide. MiniGuide was updated so viewers can include their favorite TV channels in an area where Recents and Favorites are both combined.

5. Store improvements and SmartGlass updates

VG247.com also reported that the Store pages on Xbox One were enhanced so users can quickly browse and find relevant content. Users can also view a list of their friends who played any game within the SmartGlass. Gamers with Xbox Live Gold subscription can browse for free games and download these directly using their mobile device.

More fan-requested features are also available in November 2014 such as Restart Now, Snap IE and IE Featured Sites.
