Some film makers have their choice talents - like John Hughes and Molly Ringwald once upon a time, and like Tim Burton and Johnny Depp. But sometimes, there are actors that would only work projects if they believe the director can pull it off. In the case of Matt Damon, he held true to his word that he would not return as Jason Bourne unless director Paul Greengrass is at the helm.

According to Cinema Blend, talks of Damon and Greengrass doing the next Bourne project has been in the news vines since September, but it is only recently that the star confirmed his involvement.

His close friend, Ben Afflect, accidentally told E! News that Damon will be shooting for the next Bourne film next year. Damon then confirmed, admitting, "It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."

This is good news for Bourne fans. Last year, Greengrass was adamant that he's not interested in directing another film from the franchise. He told Deadline then, "In the end I felt I had given it my all in two films I'm very proud of and didn't want to make another if I didn't believe it could be as good if not better. I couldn't come up with an idea, and the business reality of franchises is that when a studio has a Bourne, they're obliged to make one every couple of years. I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me. The best thing was to move on, have someone else come in and make their mark on it."

But with Damon returning for Bourne 5, what happens to Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross, when the fifth film is supposed to be a Legacy sequel? Cinema Blend thinks that Renner will either get to be the central character of a later Bourne movie, or he will be teaming up with Damon for Bourne 5. For the meantime, Renner will be appearing as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be returning for Mission Impossible 5.

Other than the fact that Damon is back, very few details have been released regarding Bourne 5, so more info should be revealed over the next few months. Slated to be released in July 2016, production should begin mid next year, possibly with or without Renner in tow.
