Queen Elsa & her "Frozen" cohorts are currently on top of the 15 most-searched costumes for Halloween 2014, Forbes said. The other ones on the list - zombie, ninja, pirate, clown, witch, vampire, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" - happen to be one of the most common outfits seen during the last day of October.

If you want your kid to stand out from the pack of superhero-costumed children trick or treating this Friday, you'll need to squeeze out more creative juices from your gray matter. Or, better yet, you can use these 5 ideas we've lined up:

Headless Human

Kids make the perfect foil for this given their diminutive heights. The key to this is making the "body" taller than your child to pull off the illusion that your son or daughter's head is resting on the body's hands, and not on top of it, where it should be. Walking Instagram

This is a great way to tip your hat to the power of social media without having to deal with makeup or needle and thread. You can just create an "Instaprint" that mimics the frame of the social media site via a printer and use colored plastic to act as "filter" for your "walking photo," as suggested in The Huffington Post. Here are the full instructions.

No-Sew Sandwich

You'll only need to cut out foam cushions in the shape of two slices of bread and hot glue the rest of the ensemble together to turn your little one into a snack on two feet - and a gloved hand sticking out somewhere from the sandwich. See the rest of the instructions here.

Jetpack Kid

Let your child defy gravity with this Halloween costume idea. You'll need to create fake legs to give the illusion that your kid is aloft while the jetpack is "activated." The truth is that his or her legs are actually serving as the rocket blast propelling him or her forward, backward, or sideways. Here's a video that will show you how to make this one.

Baby Ideas

If you got an infant in tow, here's a quick fix: dress him or her up as a burrito. Simply swaddle the babe in soft clothing or fabric and top this with gold foil wrapped around the child, a la Chipotle burrito. Or you can dress him up as Buddha, Mahatma Gandhi, or Albert Einstein.
