Recently, another doctor has been diagnosed with Ebola. He was identified as having contracted the disease after he returned to the United Sates from West Africa, where he was treating those affected by the deadly virus, The Telegraph reported.

This raises new concerns regarding the care of Ebola-stricken individuals within U.S. shores. This is due to the fact that there have been legitimate cases of contagion among those who have cared for previous Ebola patients, which triggered fears about the spread of the disease within the country.

However, experts have assured the public that Ebola is actually hard to contract as is it only transmitted via direct contact with an infected patient's body fluids. This explanation, and other reassurances, have not staved off "fear-bola," though.

With the rise of American citizens afflicted with Ebola, it's worth noting how many and who had contracted the deadly disease. Here's our most updated list:

American Citizens Who Contracted Ebola Outside the U.S.

"Three American health workers, Dr. Kent Brantly, Nancy Writebol and Dr. Rick Sacra, contracted Ebola in Liberia, were treated in the United States and later released," The New York Times noted. "Another American, who has not been identified, contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone and was treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. The fifth American, Ashoka Mukpo, is a freelance cameraman for NBC who was filming in Liberia. He arrived at the Nebraska Medical Center on Oct. 6."

Dr. Craig Spencer, the doctor mentioned above, is the latest patient diagnosed with Ebola. He "returned to New York City after treating Ebola victims in Guinea for Doctors Without Borders," Reuters said. He is currently under treatment at Bellevue Hospital.

Thomas E. Duncan, the first patient diagnosed with Ebola in the U.S., was treated at a Dallas hospital on September 28 not long after arriving from Liberia. He died 11 days afterwards, according to the news source.

So far, there have been 7 individuals who caught Ebola outside America and were treated in the country.

Americans Who Caught Ebola Within the U.S.

Nina Pham, a 26-year-old Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital nurse, has since been identified as the first to "contract Ebola from another person in the United States," Forbes said. She got infected while attending to Duncan. Her diagnosis was confirmed October 11.

Amber Vinson is yet another nurse who got the disease while caring for Duncan at the same Texas hospital Pham worked at. She was confirmed as having the virus October 15.

Right now, there only are 2 who have been infected within the U.S. This brings the total number of Ebola-stricken patients in the United States to 9, with one death.
