The release of the trailer for "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" was supposed to coincide with an episode of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." next week, but a leak prompted the makers to launch the clip ahead of time.

"Whether this was a highly orchestrated PR move or a swiftly and well-played response to leaky trolls no longer matters, because either way, that first trailer is here, and it brings a host of new details about the 'Avengers' sequel," Mashable noted.

And, indeed, the 2-minute trailer reveals a number of clues and spoilers that could either disappoint or whet Marvel fans' appetites. Here are 5 of them:

Andy Serkis Joins the Fray

Some of you may see him in the clip and go, "That's the 'Lord of the Rings' guy!" Yes indeed! But he's not one of the horse-riding, sword-wielding heroes of the Tolkien epic - he's that big-eyed, shadow of a human called Gollum. And now, in "Avengers 2," he looks more like himself, although it is not clear who he plays in the upcoming Marvel flick.

However, CinemaBlend speculated that he may very well be Black Panther's archenemy, Ulysses Klaw. His bearded look certainly resembles the comic book villain in question.

"Klaw is a supervillain and physicist who specializes in the field of sound," the site said. "A key element to his work is the metal vibranium - a.k.a. the stuff Captain America's shield is made out of - and as a result he often finds himself in the only place in the world where the metal can be found: Wakanda (Black Panther's home)."

"We've already heard rumors that part of 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron' would be set in the African nation, and the appearance of a character that looks a whole lot like Ulysses Klaw only supports that idea," the source added.

If Andy's playing Klaw, perhaps we'll be seeing Black Panther in the film, too.

Avengers Owned Tony Stark's Bots

In one of the shots in the trailer, eagle-eyed fans may notice that one of the Stark bots actually has the Avengers' emblem. Previous information shared in other sites have revealed that Ultron was the unprecedented result of Stark's efforts to create an "automated security force," Mashable said. As such, "the Avengers share at least some of the blame for what became of them; at least in a public-perception sort of way."

Ultron's Look Got a Modern Makeover

Ultron's look is "a departure from the comic-book version, which was always a fixed, insectoid helmet that reflected the designs of original creator Hank Pym," Mashable observed. Indeed, this one doesn't have strings.

There'll Be Time Traveling Involved

There's a scene where Captain America's in a bar where the rest of the people are in 1940s attire, while the superhero's uniform is decidedly circa 2014. Put two and two together and...

Character Deaths Abound

A portion of the trailer features Captain America's shield, broken (gasp!). And Thor's "lifeless" arm next to it.

"Back at Comic-Con, during which Marvel showed an extensive sizzle-reel, the final shot showed a whole lot of lifeless Avengers - which hews to the comic-book series, in which most of the team is wiped out," Mashable recalled.

Director Joss Whedon had previously said that there'll be "death, death, and death" in the upcoming "Avengers" sequel, according to Breathecast. While this could mean that Thanos may appear in the movie, it's also likely that he means there'll be major character losses.
