Evan Peters is back as Quicksilver in "X-Men: Apocalypse," and this time, his role will be much bigger.
It has to be, because according to Cinema Blend, audiences have fallen in love with Peters' performance as the super fast mutant, and his scene in "Days of Future Past" was cited as one of the best in the film.
According to an interview by Newsarama with second unit director Brian Smrz, the franchise is working to put the spotlight on Quicksilver in "Apocalypse," revealing that the sequel is already in the works, and they are planning to ensure that Peter Maximoff's special abilities will be highlighted.
He said, "Well, there will be another Quicksilver scene, which I'm looking forward to; that'll be fun. Other than that, I can't really say much - I'm looking forward to working with the cast and crew again. I've worked with Hugh Jackman four times before this, and I love the younger cast who's already great to work with as well."
Smrz has worked heavily in the Peters' slow-motion scene, and ComingSoon.net reported that he wanted to make a solo film specifically for Quicksilver. When asked about the kind of film he's like to direct, his response was, "We talked about Quicksilver before. I'd love to do a Quicksilver as a solo film because there's a lot to enjoy with that character." He added, however, "But I'm not geared just towards superhero movies; for me it's about great main characters, and finding movies that have that."
What's interesting about this possibility is that Marvel Entertainment will not be alone in its superhero film franchise then. "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be out in theatres in the summer of 2016, and by then, CW's television series, "The Flash" will be in its second season, with Ezra Miller playing the lightning-fast superhero in DC's "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" which will debut a few months before Marvel's team of mutants.
Not only that, Marvel also has another Quicksilver lined up for "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."
Cinemablend then stressed, this would mean that Smrz will have to top Peters' scene in the last film, and he will have to make Quicksilver more distinctive than "The Flash" and "The Avengers" version.
Before you get excited though, Slash Film made it clear that just because there are talks of a Quicksilver film, it doesn't mean that it's actually sure to be happening. But fans can always hope.
