Brock Lesnar, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, may return to UFC after his contract with the World Wrestling Entertainment expires in six months.

That is, if speculations going around in the UFC are to be believed, and also if Lesnar agrees to do a rubber match with Frank Mir, the former UFC heavyweight champion, reports Argus Leader.

Lesnar is still under contract with WWE until "Wrestlemania 31," scheduled on March 29, 2015 in San Francisco Bay Area in California. The Inquisitr believes that Lesnar may face CM Punk in the WWE main event.

Mir has been making pronouncements of late saying that he wants to fight again in the Octagon and would certainly like to get a third and deciding match with Lesnar.

The Examiner recounts that Lesnar lost to Mir in his first ever UFC match through submission. He became the UFC Heavyweight Champion after beating Randy Couture in his third match.

Lesnar's first title defence was against Mir, whom he defeated in the second round via TKO, the report added.

Door is Open for Comeback

The Examiner notes that Brock Lesnar is currently on a good deal with the WWE as he makes good money despite his limited appearances. But given his knack for challenges, the thought that he would once again make a comeback to the UFC, the way he did for the WWE, has always been a possibility.

Amid battling an intestinal disease called diveritculitis on two occasions that somehow cut short his UFC career, the door remains open for Lesnar to come back to the sports.

With a 5-3 win-loss record in the UFC and a clean bill of health to boot, a fight with an old nemesis would also mean big money, notes the Examiner.

"If Lesnar comes back, I think it will be good for MMA. He is still popular. People still know who he is and this brings more attention. We are tied with one win each. I would enjoy a rubber match. I would like to welcome him back to the UFC," Frank Mir said to ProWrestling Scoops.

Veteran pro wrestling announcer and commentator Jim Ross somehow gave credence to the speculations when he was quoted by Fox Sports in an interview saying: "I see no reason he (Lesnar) couldn't have the potential to return to the UFC and sell pay-per views."

"Lesnar remains the UFC's biggest pay-per-view draw ever. And Jim Ross thinks that ability is still there (with Lesnar)," Fox Sports said.

Lesnar has not made any comment or official statement regarding speculations of his possible return to UFC.
