The long wait is finally over. Apple is expected to unveil their new iPads Thursday at an event on Apple's campus at Silicon Valley in Cupertino, California, less than a month after it unveiled its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

For those who want to watch the event, be sure to check Apple's site on Oct. 16, 2014 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET via an iOS device or Apple's Safari browser.

So what exactly are we waiting for?

With its event tagline, "It's been way too long," Apple users have speculated that the company is set to unveil two new iPads -- iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 to be exact. Rumor also has it that the company will unveil a new MacBook Air and Retina MacBook Pro, and release its new Mac operating system, OS X 10.10 Yosemite. But Apple has not yet confirmed any of these.

The Michael Report revealed that the new iPad Air will be thinner than the first version and will come in a "fully laminated display." The report also said that it has been speculated that Apple is targeting to produce the "thinnest" tablets in the market.

The report said it will have the same design as the current iPad Air but without the Mute Button, making it at least 0.5mm thinner than iPad Air.

Also, the new iPad Air may also come in a gold-colored version. iPad tablets currently have black and silver colors. The new color matches with the newly-released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Good news to photo lovers and to selfie kings and queens! It has also been speculated that the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3 will have an 8-megapixel back camera. Its front camera will also be upgraded to FaceTime HD and will also support the 720p video calling.

The new iPad Air and iPad Mini 3 will also have a new processor -- an A8 chip, rumors suggest. You can then expect longer battery life. The current iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina display both have an A7 chip processor while the iPad with Retina display has a dual core A6x chip.

MacWorld said one of the new features being eyed on the new iPad Mini is the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The Michael Report also said that this feature would be available in the iPad Air 2.

Meanwhile, PC Advisor reported that the new iPad Mini 3 is likely to have the current 7.9 inches display with a 2048x1536 resolution.

It is also been said that Apple will likely continue with its 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage options.
