Four years ago, Nigel was speaking in English with a British accent. Returning home, he is now speaking Spanish.

According to a news report published by Reuters on Monday, owner Darren Chick said he doesn't know where his African grey parrot named Nigel, who has been missing for four years, went.

When he was returned to him last week, he was surprised after finding out that Nigel now knows how to speak Spanish. Not only that, Nigel is now looking for somebody else named "Larry."

The news report quoted Chick as saying that he knew that it was Nigel the moment he saw him. He also added that Nigel is doing well.

But, how was Nigel really found? A complete report published by newspaper the Daily Breeze, also the source of Reuters report, said that Nigel and Chick were reunited through a veterinarian named Teresa Micco.

Micco, who also lost her own African grey parrot named Benjamin, was contacted by a couple -- Julissa and Jonathan Sperling, owners of Happy Tails Dog Spa in Torrance, California -- who thought that they had found her Benjamin.

Julissa shared with the Daily Breeze that she found the parrot at their home in Torrance when she heard somebody whistling and saying, "Hello? Hello?" She then opened their door and saw nothing. But when she heard it again, she looked closely and saw the parrot.

She said that she brought Nigel to their store, describing him as the "happiest bird," who sings and talks uncontrollably. She then discovered that the bird knows how to speak Spanish after it blurted out "What happened?" in the said dialect.

After seeing Micco's ad, she contacted her and tried to return the parrot but it was later learned that it wasn't Micco's Benjamin by scanning it for a microchip.

The parrot was then sent to Animal Lovers pet store in Torrence where the bird was sold.

Through sales records, it was learned that the parrot belongs to Chick. Micco showed up at Chick's house and asked him if he lost his African grey parrot. At first, Chick was hesitant to tell her that he did have a parrot four years ago but told her otherwise.

Chick and Nigel's first meeting after four years didn't actually went that well, the report said, as Nigel bit Chick when he tried to pick him up. Micco said in the Daily Breeze report that Nigel's behavior was not unusual and that the bird will eventually settle in soon.

As for Micco, her search for Benjamin, a pet she raised for more than 19 years, continues.
