Nike is officially releasing the Jordan Spizike "Space Blue" to retailers worldwide beginning Wednesday, October 15.

"Space Blue" is the latest aesthetic colorway addition to the Jordan Spizike, which was previously available only in "White," "King County," and "Black" colorways, detailed Kicks On Fire.

The color "Space Blue" was last seen on the Air Jordan 1 Mid Nouveau. The latest colorway to the Jordan Spizike also includes "Wolf Grey," "Tropical Teal," and "Fusion Pink," reported Sneaker News.

How the Jordan Spizike came to be

Jordan Spizike was made popular by Shelton Jackson "Spike" Lee, claimed Foot Locker Unlocked.

Spike Lee is an American film director, producer, writer and actor who Foot Locker Unlocked regarded as "one of the biggest basketball fans in the planet."

Initially known as Air Jordan Spizike (Spiz'ike), the sneaker was made by Nike to show appreciation to Mars Blackmon, Spike Lee's character from the movie, "She's Gotta Have It," narrated Kicks On Fire.

Lee subsequently made funny commercials as Mars Blackmon that Nike believed to have contributed to the rise to fame of the Air Jordan Spizike, the report added.

Kicks On Fire went on to say that the Air Jordan Spizike had as many haters as lovers initially, so many anticipated that the sneaker was going to be a bust.

"But when word got out that the first colorway of the Air Jordan Spizike would only be available along I-95, on the request of Spike Lee, the hype for the shoes boomed," the site said.

The official name of the new Jordan sneaker brand was eventually shortened to Jordan Spizike.

Jordan Spizike Price

Nike, in its company website, describes Jordan Spizike as one that combines the elements of the Jordan III, IV, V, VI, and XX.

In addition to its bright new "Space Blue" colorway, the new Jordan Spizike shall also feature Wolf Grey elephant print and Fusion Pink speckles on the midsoles and Jumpman logo, detailed Nike.

Sneaker News said that the look of the new Jordan Spizike "Space Blue" immediately brings to mind the GS version of the silhouette. Apart from being a little more vibrant, it is quite bold to utilize Tropical Teal speckles in the new sneaker design, the report added.

Nike will officially retail the Jordan Spizike "Space Blue" for $175.

But Foot Locker Unlocked was more detailed with the sneaker availability and pricing.

"Jordan Spizike "Space Blue" drops this Wednesday, October 15th, at the Foot Locker, House of Hoops by Foot Locker and Footlocker.com starting at 8 am EDT," the site said.

The Men's edition of the latest Jordan Spizike "Space Blue" would be available for $175; the kids grade school edition would be priced $120 a pair; pre-school version would be for $75; while toddler sizes would be sold for $55, details Foot Locker Unlocked.
