All the cute and adorable stickers usually sent to friends via Facebook Messenger and chat is now available in the comments section of the social network, Facebook engineer Bob Baldwin announced via his own account.

Tech Crunch reported that the stickers will now be available on the comment boxes of users' Timeline, Group, and Event posts. People can now use this brighter and bigger version of the emoji to express what they want to say without using words, whether it's via web or mobile versions.

Stickers in comments basically work the same way. Users need only to click the smiley face icon on the lower right section of the comments box in order to access the stickers, Tech Crunch added. Of course one will begin with the few, basic stickers.

But user can make use of more by accessing Facebook's in-app Sticker Store. The stickers on the store are often grouped via specific themes and are usually based on famous movies, sports teams, or online games, Mashable noted.

One of the stickers' advantages is it allows users to engage easily in conversations since they can just sum up a reaction or an emotion by using one image instead of typing sentences.

"That's obviously another key area for Facebook to focus on as it continues its shift to mobile," said the Tech Crunch report.

However, the website also pointed out that the stickers' disadvantage is it would take too long to scroll or read through the comments section because of the size.

According to Mashable, Facebook has been developing the stickers since last year.

"All of Facebook's sticker packs are free for now but it's easy to see how the company could monetize the feature in the future, particularly when outside brands get involved in creating their own sticker packs," the outlet explained.

According to Phandroid, this idea to integrate stickers to the comments section began as a hackathon project in New York by Facebook engineers Baldwin and Kwame Thomison. The prototype was developed over a single night, and later rolled out to iOS and Android because of its success on the first few people who have tried it.

Facebook is not the only social networking site using stickers. Other popular messaging apps, such as Viber and WeChat, provide in-app stickers for users while they're chatting with friends.
