The developer of "Assassin's Creed Unity" has locked the video game at 900p and 30fps on both Xbox One and PS4 to "avoid all debates and stuff."

Senior producer Vincent Pontbriand of Ubisoft Montreal revealed to CVG that they have decided to make the specs identical in the two console platforms.

Pontbriand explained to VideoGamer the technical reasons behind their company's decision. The lock in graphical performance had something to do with the console's CPUs and not GPUs, which prevented Ubisoft from further improving the game's performance.

"Technically we're CPU-bound. The GPUs are really powerful. Obviously the graphics look pretty good. But it's the CPU (that) has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel," Pontbriand explained to VideoGamer.

In a report by IGN, Pontbriand explained: "It's not the number of polygons that affect the frame rate. Rather, the trade off comes when deciding to keep either a high or convincing AI."

"We were quickly bottlenecked by that and it was a bit frustrating, because we thought that this was going to be a ten-fold improvement over everything AI-wise, and we realized it was going to be pretty hard," Pontbriand said in the CVG report.

The Ubisoft exec added that the video game could even run at 100 fps if it was only the graphics that are to be taken into account. But then, "Assassin's Creed Unity" also has detailed AI processes that simulate the game's massive crowds and individual citizens, reports CVG.

For this reason, Ubisoft has decided to lock the frame rate at 30fps on both console versions.

IGN also reported that the Xbox One and PS4 versions of last year's "Assassin's Creed: Black Flag" initially ran at the 900p resolution. But a subsequent patch increased the resolution of the PS4 version up to 1080p.

'Assassin's Creed Unity' in a nutshell

Gamespot describes the video game as the next generation of evolution of the blockbuster franchise, powered by an all-new game engine. It is a co-op gameplay which shows how players and gamers are strongest when they each fight as part of a brotherhood.

From the storming of the Bastille, to the execution of King Louis XVI, "Assassin's Creed Unity" gives gamers the experience of the French Revolution like never before, on the way to helping the people of France carve an entirely new destiny, Gamespot details.

The "Assassin's Creed Unity" is due to be released in North America on November 11, in Europe on November 13, and in the U.K. market on November 14.
