Liam Hemsworth and Taylor Lautner -- from book-based characters to masked superheroes?

Reports have it that the young actors are said to be "vying for two of the ranger spots," according to Breathecast. Although no official announcement has been made regarding the cast, whisperings of a possible casting of Liam and/or Lautner surfaced as early as May.

These reports must probably have stemmed from MTV's speculative piece on who should be cast as the rangers. The said article had recommended the casting of Liam as the Red Ranger, who's "got the good looks, and he's built like a rock", attributes that the music channel associate with Chris Hemsworth's younger brother.

Taylor, however, was not included in the casting recommendation, although some fans believe the "Twilight" star is perfect as the Red Ranger.

But then again, perhaps Lionsgate, the studio making the reboot, might be casting someone else altogether.

"Both Hemsworth and Lautner are actors who could use a franchise to make their own, but are also not actors who have shown they can do it on their own. They may get the chance, but the studio may also want someone more stable," Enstars observed.

Meanwhile, other reports have it that Chloe Grace Moretz have signed on to do "Power Rangers" as the Pink Ranger. When asked about it last week, however, the "Kick Ass" star had this to say, as noted by E! News:

"The funny thing about all these reports is I literally haven't even gotten one call about it. I keep hearing these reports that I'm apparently starring in a movie with Liam Hemsworth...which is cool, but I don't know the answer."

Aside from Chloe, other actors that have been "suggested" for the "Power Rangers" cast are "Jack Gleeson as the Blue Ranger, Jamie Chung as the Yellow Ranger, Roshon Fegan as the Black Ranger," as reported by KDramaStars.

So far, the only actor confirmed for the reboot is Jason David Frank, who MTV reported will have a cameo in the film as the Green Ranger.

"I probably will be involved. They talked to me about it. I don't know how much I am involved, but for sure cameos at least in the reboot movie," the actor said in an interview.

"Power Rangers" will be showing in theaters worldwide on July 22, 2016 and will be a "modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world," IGN said.
