Earlier this year, it was leaked that the iPhone 6 will have a protruding camera, arousing speculations on the purpose of this unusual feature. Later, the Daily Mail reported that this "bayonet mount system" can let shutterbugs "attach and remove interchangeable lenses using a twist and lock motion."

While this certainly sounds clever, not all iPhone 6 users are actually happy with this new development. And thus the question: how do you fix this protruding cam problem?

According to Mashable, a YouTube user has done Apple fans a favor by posting a video on how to do just that. The solution basically consists of sanding down the protruding rim until it's pretty much leveled with the lens of your smartphone's camera. Watch the video below to learn how.

You can do this solution manually, but it will take you time and will jar your brand new gadget a bit too much for comfort. The mechanical option is the way to go.

This camera is one more glitch on top of the bending iPhone 6 issue, as previously reported by Mashable in another piece.

Meanwhile, Sony has been poking fun at the protrusion by releasing an ad for Xperia Z3 with this line: "The only thing that sticks out with the Xperia Z3 camera is its features..." The accompanying image, as noted by Nextpowerup.com, focused on the Sony smartphone's camera, which was illustrated to pop out of the main body for emphasis.

It also looks like Apple is aware of this incongruity as the company apparently airbrushed the protrusion out of certain promotional images.

"We all know about the protruding camera on the back of the two new versions of the iPhone," Phone Arena pointed out. "But thanks to the use of certain angles in photographs, and some editing software, a sideways look of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus shows no protruding camera on either model."

"The pictures come right from Apple's own web site. The Apple iPhone 6 is 6.9mm thin while the larger phablet is 7.1mm thick. By making the iPhone thinner, Apple had to have the camera lens stick out from the phone," the site said. Check the photo in question here.

However, the site concedes, this little "bump" in product design is less likely to keep consumers from acquiring the newest iPhone iteration. Do you agree?
