At the end of last season's "Game of Thrones," Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) killed his father while on the toilet. Shot twice with a crossbow on a short range, it's safe to assume that Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance) died in the hands of his son just before Tyrion escaped King's Landing.
But it seems like there's more to see of Tywin in Season 5. Dance hinted that he will be back for the next season. The Chronicle reported, Dance said in an interview that he will not be "completely missing out on the next series."
He also added, "More than that, I'm not going to say ... so, you haven't seen the last of Tywin Lannister."
Although there are many supernatural elements in the series, it is highly unlikely that Tywin will be resurrected as a white walker or a reanimated corpse (as a certain character should be).
Based on the books, however, Dance may return in a series of flashbacks. The fifth season will be adapted partly from "A Feast of Crows" and in the book, glimpses of Cersei's (Lena Heady) past were revealed including a prophecy from a witch named Maggy the Frog.
Huffington Post disputed the idea of Dance returning in flashbacks, however, because this will be a cause for fans to demand more of other deceased favorites, Ned Stark (Sean Bean) among them.
The flashbacks from Cersei's childhood may be integral in the series, though so it is likely that a more youthful version of Tywin will appear at some point in the series.
Entertainment Weekly also suggested that maybe Tyrion will feel haunted by his actions, so Tywin can appear as a memory or vision, like Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) did in an earlier season, which brought back Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa) for another episode.
Finally, the last theory on Dance's return will involve only his corpse, the same way Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) was brought for another episode after he died. This may be done by having someone discover him dead in the toilet, or in a funeral if they're having one for him
HBO declined to comment on Dance's return, however, some characters will not be returning next year, despite being alive after months of plowing through snow and fighting off enemies. Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) and Hodor (Kristian Nairn) are confirmed to be absent all throughout Season 5.
Game of Thrones Season 5 is expected to premiere sometime in April 2015.
