Is racial discrimination still rampant even in modern society?

Apparently, it is.

In a report by the New York Daily, African-American actress, Daniele Watts from "Django Unchained," was allegedly humiliated in public, and by the Los Angeles Police, nonetheless, when she was detained for showing affection to her Caucasian boyfriend, Brian Lucas.

Watts revealed the incident on her Facebook page, saying, "Today I was handcuffed and detained by 2 police officers from the Studio City Police Department after refusing to agree that I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place."

She rehashed the details of the incident, saying that she was standing on the sidewalk when she saw the police, but knowing she did nothing wrong, she just walked away. Later on, she was detained by two other police officers, who forced her into handcuffs.

The LAPD confirmed Watts's detainment around 3 p.m. on Thursday, the New York Daily News added, supposedly because they were responding to a 911 complaint of "indecent exposure."

Watts also said in the post, "As I was sitting in the back of the police car, I remembered the countless times my father came home frustrated or humiliated by the cops when he had done nothing wrong.  I felt his shame, his anger, and my own feelings of frustration for existing in a world where I have allowed myself to believe that 'authority figures' could control my BEING... my ability to BE!!!!!!!"

Her boyfriend, Chef Brian Lucas, supported her story as he posted on his Facebook page,  "I could tell that whoever called on us (including the officers), saw a tatted RAWKer white boy and a hot bootie shorted black girl and thought we were a HO (prostitute) & a TRICK (client). This is something that happened to her and her father when she was 16. What an assumption to make!!!"

Watts burst into tears upon being handcuffed, later on saying in the same Facebook post that she "deeply enjoyed connecting with the cops who detained me. I allowed myself to be honest about my anger, frustration, and rage as tears flowed from my eyes."

She claimed that she was crying "for a country that calls itself 'the land of the free and the home of the brave' and yet detains people for claiming that very right."

According to TMZ, Lucas and Watts were "making out" in the parked car outside CBS Television Studios, where she was just coming from a meeting.

"Brian tells us ... he was told a resident of a nearby apartment saw them making out and called the cops," the TMZ report revealed.

Spokeswoman for the LAPD, Sally Mandera, told People Magazine  that the incident is still being looked into.
