'X-Men: Apocalypse' Movie Cast & Trailer: James McAvoy Goes Bald as Professor X

When we were introduced to a reboot of sorts of the cinematic "X-Men" franchise, we saw a very hairy Professor Charles Xavier in the person of actor James McAvoy.

Fans were initially skeptical of the approach, considering that Patrick Stewart had played the character flawlessly, albeit, without hair. However, his acting prowess has somewhat overshadowed the obvious element missing in both "X-men: First Class" and "X-men: Days of Future Past," Cinemablend said.

But in the upcoming film "Apocalypse," Marvel appears to want to change that, as it has been reported that McAvoy would be going bald in the film.

In his interview with the Huffington Post, the Scottish actor revealed, "I'll be older in this one. [And] I think I'm losing my hair finally. And, yeah, that's kind of all I know."

There is no official word yet from Marvel or its representatives about McAvoy's latest revelation, but it is fairly safe to say that we should take his word for it. Moreover, McAvoy said that him going bald in "Apocalypse" was somewhat expected considering the direction where the screenwriters are going into.

The actor added, "I got an email from the [producer/writer Simon Kinberg] who informed me he was getting dead excited about stuff, but he didn't want to divulge anything for a couple of weeks, so I really don't know. It seems fairly global, if we're talking apocalypse."

On the other hand, Rob Bricken for iO9, just like many other movie pundits, are wondering how the screenwriters and director, Bryan Singer, would introduce this element in "Apocalypse."

He wrote jokingly, "Will he just show up and be bald? Will it be because of regular old aging, or because his telepathic powers are so strong they push the hair out of his head? Will it be cause of some sort of lab accident with Superboy causing him to vow vengeance against the Man of Steel? I have to admit, that last one would be quite the twist."

Apart from McAvoy's revelation, what is known so far is that the X-men would be battling an ancient mutant called Apocalypse, who was first introduced in a post-credits scene. In that scene, he was called En Sabah Nur, which translates to "The First One," Cinemablend said.

The X-Men would also need to face with his Four Horsemen, namely Pestilence, Famine, War and Death, who were also seen in their silhouette forms in the same post-credits scene.

The plot of the upcoming "X-Men" film is also anyone's guess. However, it has been suggested that there would be some sort of enslavement courtesy of the evil first mutant.
