It seems that despite the success of the latest "Transformer" movie, it's not enough to make the anchors stay. Not only is Mark Wahlberg said to be exiting the series, but Michael Bay as well.

In a report by Inquisitr.com, Michael Bay stated that he no longer has the time or energy to continue directing the series.

With no star to stay in the series, there are rumors that the original team, Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, will be making a comeback. But, considering their history with the press, even that is highly unlikely.

LaBeouf did not earn fans while being in "Transformers," and his stints with the media this year are hardly giving him any additional points to the fans. Inquisitr also points out the spectacle he made of himself earlier this year about "not being famous anymore."

Megan Fox, on the other hand, may be more likely to return to the series. After she made up with the "Transformers" director, things are taking a turn as she started working with him again, with "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" as their first movie together in years.

According to Movie Pilot, Fox already expressed interest in reprising the role of Mikaela Banes, but with a more concrete contract for the TMNT sequel, she may have a difficult time working for both franchises at the same time.

Mark Wahlberg's exit from the franchise caused rumors as well, but despite the success of "Age of Extinction" he was mostly just adamant about not doing sequels. He said in a report from Hero Complex, "Some people think of this as a sequel. We thought of it more as a stand-alone thing. I've never done a sequel."

Not a sequel of a film he originally starred in, anyway.

But with all talks with the stars, what is Michael Bay's advice for the next director to film the franchise, if there's ever going to be one?

According to an interview with MTV, Bay said in jest that "there's a lot that's unexplored, but that's for the next director to figure out."

What do you think of Michael Bay leaving the films? What about the possible return of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox?
