Although Apple has not uttered a word about the hotly anticipated iPhone 6, many have already assumed the device will be released on September 19.

As such, a queue has already formed at the company's flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City as early as last week, Re/code reported.

Some of them have actually come from other states just to be among the first to lay their hands on the latest iteration of Apple's best-selling product.

"We will stay until the release date: Who cares how long. We've committed ourselves to do this," said Moon Ray, who is at the front of the line along with husband Jason Ray, ABC News said. They have been on the queue since Monday last week.

"The Rays said they traveled from Jackson, Mississippi, to New York City for the first time to wait in line," the news source continued. "They said they hoped to use their prominent spot in the queue to raise awareness for a health care start-up."

One of those forming the line outside the NYC Apple store flew in all the way from Hong Kong. Jonah Wong said that it was his first time doing so and said it has been "a little bit crazy."

"It's not something normal people will do," he shared. "It's something we can check off our bucket list."

Others, however, do not share the same view as Wong. A number of them see the event as a moneymaking opportunity, according to Cult of Mac.

"Most of the campers are professional line sitters and are just using it to get some free press for new apps and other services," the site observed.

"Robert Samuel, founder and owner of professional line-waiting service S.O.L.D. or Same Ole Line Dudes, already has orders for seven iPhone 6s and one inquiry from an iPhone re-seller despite the uncertainty," CNBC said. Samuel predicted the new smartphone will be out September 19th.

Cult of Mac also noted that the previous queuing record for the iPhone was 18 days. This year, the group that started the line began 19 days before the rumored iPhone 6 launch.

According to The Guardian, the September 9 event is reportedly Apple's "biggest launch event yet," as 2,500 people have been invited for the occasion, which will be held at the Flint Center in Cupertino, California.

"The company is also expected to introduce its new iPhone and iPad software, iOS 8, which includes many new features focused around flexibility and interaction with Apple's desktop and laptop computers," the British news source said.
