Last month, One Direction was plagued with split rumors, which manager and entertainment mogul, Simon Cowell clarified, without sugar coating the situation outright.

"Bands don't stay together forever," Cowell declared, as noted by The Daily Mail. "I think they will make at least two more albums together [after the current one]."

When asked whether Harry will go solo and split from the group soon, the talent discoverer explained, "I don't think that is going to happen for a while. Eventually I am sure they all will."

And now, new reports have it that the band is actually gearing up to release their fourth album, one which the music mogul described as "fantastic."

Given his penchant for unapologetic frankness and saying what exactly is on his mind, we're inclined to believe him.

"There's probably five or six tracks I've already heard that could be singles," he was quoted by MTV as saying. "There's some very different kinds of songs than what we've done before; they've taken a few more risks. Most importantly, the boys love writing, they love recording."

Sounds good. And 1D member Niall Horan apparently agrees.

"I think it's going to be a little bit more edgy," Niall recently revealed on the "Today" show. "But obviously, we feel like we've got some really good songs and we are happy."

He must be truly excited and pleased with the upcoming album, as he also expressed similar sentiments on his Twitter account.

"Just listening to tracks from the new album! Jesus this is exciting ! really can't wait for u to hear this album! By far my favourite yet"

Meanwhile, another One Direction member, Zayn Malik, had also teased about the next album, saying on Instagram that it is "coming very soon and I'm very excited."

Liam Payne revealed that all of the boys have "taken a hand in the writing this time," according to MTV.

"And we've literally written almost every song," he added, confirming Cowell's statement about the boys loving the writing task.

Could this mean that the handsome singers will continue to stick around as a group for more years to come? They do sound really excited about their project.

"I think they could be doing this five, 10, 20 years if they wanted," Cowell said, according to Entertainmentwise.

Yes, come to think of it, they could - IF they still want to.

Right now, the boys appear to be having a great time with their band-based careers, so they may be able to put out a few more albums after this upcoming release.

What do you think, Directioners?
