Beyonce had previously talked about taking on an alter ego's vibe once she steps on stage. She had since named her "Sasha Fierce" and occasionally made references to "her" when talking about her live performances.
However, she officially affirmed the existence and influence of her alter ego by naming her third album after Sasha Fierce.
Back in 2010, which is two years after Bey released "I Am... Sasha Fierce," the "Drunk in Love" singer declared that she has already ditched the sassy persona. "I don't need Sasha Fierce anymore, because I've grown and now I'm able to merge the two," she was quoted as saying by MTV. "Sasha Fierce is done. I killed her."
The Washington Post noted that the use of an alter ego allowed Beyonce to "experiment with performances of her sexuality while keeping her ladylike integrity intact."
"Make no mistake, ladylike integrity was paramount to Beyoncé's early bankability," the publication added.
However, based on a recent interview, it looks like Queen B hasn't really totally killed off Sasha Fierce. Well, she did say she has managed to merge her alter-ego into herself.
In a in interview with CR Fashion Book, the singing superstar had written a "revealing" poem in collaboration with writer, Forrest Gander, The Daily Mail said.
It is in the verses of the poem, titled "Bey The Light," which was pieced together especially for the magazine's fifth issue, that Jay Z's wife revealed what she's like in between the sheets.
"Though we're different as blue and red, I'm not afraid to draw from her in performance, rifts, even in bed," a passage from the poem read.
It can be remembered that Bey had revealed in her autobiographical documentary, "Beyoncé: Life Is but a Dream," what she does before she makes love to her rapper hubby - and when, as noted by The New York Times.
"I think I need to go listen to 'Make Love to Me,' go make love to my husband," she was heard saying in one scene. It also appears she does just that when she's not feeling herself or "together."
And now we know that, on top of that, she also takes Sasha Fierce out when she's in bed with her husband.
"The poem was written by Mr Gander using statements from Beyoncé's interview with the publication," The Daily Mail explained. It also mentioned not just her "sex life" but her daughter Blue Ivy and her bond with children. It also mentioned how she uses Sasha for that extra "oomph" on stage.
"I learned at a very young age, when I need to tap some extra strength, to put my persona, Sasha, on stage," a passage from the poem went.
Looks like Sasha remains an essential part of Beyonce's personality.
