The past weekend was a very special one for A-list couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie - but only they knew that.

The power couple finally tied the knot in an ultra-private ceremony in France on Saturday, August 23, and it's only recently that the rest of us knew about it, including the bride's dad, Academy Award-winning actor, Jon Voight, Us Weekly reported.

When asked to comment about this headline-making turn of events, he simply said, "That's nice."

He also added that he's happy for the newlyweds and that his lack of knowledge was due to the busy Emmys week.

We're not surprised at this surprise - Angie and Brad have been known to be very particular about guarding their privacy and keeping their personal affairs private. However, despite that, the media has managed to gather insider details, thanks to the couple's representative and some sources, on what happened during the hush-hush ceremony.

"Brad and Angelina arrived in Nice on Saturday for their nuptials, believed to have been held at Chateau Miraval," The Daily Mail noted. The wine chateau is located in the village of Corren, where the couple owns an estate.

"Jolie reportedly walked down the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, on each arm while her daughters Zahara and Vivienne threw petals, and Shiloh and Knox served as ring bearers," the British publication added.

According to Hollywood Life, the pair was wed "in a private ceremony in a small chapel surrounded by family and friends."

"The reason for getting married was very simple," an insider reportedly close to Brad and Angelina revealed to the site. "Obviously they love each other very much but every single day their kids ask them to get married. They ask them multiple times a day as well so they finally broke them down and go their wish. And now that everyone is old enough to understand what is going on they decided why not!"

Furthermore, there were only 22 people in attendance, according to The Daily Mail. The actress wore a white dress that was described as "very traditional, but very Angie," according to a source. "It was comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk."

An insider also told the British news source that the couple tied the knot in France in keeping with Angelina's promise to her mother Marcheline Bertrand - that she would marry in the said country.

It was also reported by E! News that the "Maleficent" star wore something that her deceased mother owned.

"It was a small locket with a photo of her mother inside it. She had a veil and Brad gasped when he lifted it because she looked so stunning," the source said.

Now we're very curious about how the actress looked on that most special day.

Meanwhile, Brad was recently seen at the Tank Museum in Dorset for a "Fury" photo call. He was also noted to be wearing a "simple gold band," a symbol of what transpired last weekend. It has been reported that his and Angie's rings "are believed to have been designed by their good friend Robert Procop, who designed Angelina's stunning engagement ring," according to The Daily Mail.

"Brad's new gold wedding band is worth just $10,000, according to jeweller to the stars Vashi Dominguez," the news source added. Dominguez also noted that, for stars of their caliber, their rings are "surprisingly modest."

Well, that's just in keeping with their reputation for staying low key.
