Fans of the original Air Jordan 1 KO, which came out in 1985, will be happy to know that the brand is releasing a modern retro version of the much coveted shoe on August 23 on Nike.com and select retailers in the US.
Featuring its iconic Black and Sport Blue colorway, the Air Jordan 1 Retro KO High will have the same canvas upper, with colors contrasting nicely with the super white midsole area to create a clean and refreshing look. This material has proven itself durable, as well as lightweight, writes Nike.com, and this is why it remains one of the most wanted shoes even after so many years.
While the Sport Blue color is slightly different from the Royal Blue hue its original version carried, it's not likely that fans will nitpick on such a small detail. Sneakernews calls it a very good alternative for those who weren't able to get their hands on the more vintage version, which is actually good enough, same with the Lance Mountain Jordan 1 SB or the Tiempo takedown, which also released their own retro versions. The pair retails for $140.
The Air Jordan 1 KO line first started in the 1980s, with "KO" standing for "Knock Out," according to NiceKicks.com. It is one of the most retroed models in the Air Jordan collection.
In the unboxing feature by NiceKicks, the Air Jordan 1 KO "Sport Blue" will be released in the traditional orange Nike box.The material is mostly black on the upper section and made canvas near the toes, the mid foot and the back, possibly for added comfort and ease of movement. A black leather strip can be found near the ankle area, the laces are also black, while the tongue is made of lightweight nylon fabric.
The side, directly on the leather sport blue area, features the AJKO wing logo. Not all sport blue strips on the shoe are made of leather, though. For one, the toe area has a nylon material. The same can be said with the inner lining. A sport blue outsole further brightens up the pure white midsole to give it more character. For variety, the box also comes with a pair of sport blue laces. This shoe will look great for casual wear.
