Peter Capaldi is the newest incarnation of the time-traveling Doctor, and Whoovians are very much excited to see him in action.

In a teaser trailer promoting the series 8 kick-off episode, fans see dinosaurs, attacks in London (again), and the Doctor in his nighshirt, with a mysterious cyborg...while he's on horseback. (Confused? So are we.)

Neve McIntosh as Madam Vastra was also featured in the trailer, ready to fight in battle. Jenna Coleman also appears with a quip regarding the Tardis revamp (can't wait to see how it will look like!).

In regards to Coleman, however, a report from The Independent has confirmed that the actress is indeed leaving the show after the Christmas episode.

Before that though, Coleman did an interview with BBC where she shared Clara's feelings about the new doctor. Coleman said, "It unbalances her and throws everything up in the air. She has gone from feeling safe -- in moments of danger the Doctor would catch her -- and thinking she had it all sussed, then suddenly this new guy has come along who she can't quite access in the same way. He's removed, he's not as patient, and he's much more alien and enigmatic. It's really hard for her. Her best friend is a changed person, and it is a very difficult for her to accept that and move forward."

A source for The Mirror said, "The conversations about Jenna's exit have started, and a plan is in place which is being ironed out. By the time she leaves she will be one of the longest-standing companions ever. She has been absolutely brilliant in the role, but everyone agrees it is a part that should change after a period."

The source also added, "It was very much a mutual decision."

"It's important to keep the series moving and fast-paced, and the time is just starting to feel right and the feeling is that it could be a perfect Christmas storyline," the site continued.

A welcome change for the series is the introduction of a new recurring character with the name of Danny Pink (played by Samuel Anderson) who teaches at the school where Clara works.

It remains unclear on whether or not he will be a mainstay in the series, but he will definitely be joining the new doctor and Clara on their time-traveling adventures for a while.
