As the 2014-2015 season of the National Basketball Association nears, it has been reported that we would be looking forward to a Chicago Bulls-Los Angeles Lakers game on Christmas Day.

Citing a tweet by reporter Brett Pollakoff, NBC Sports said that the match-up between the two teams would be something to look forward to during the holiday season, considering that despite the Laker's formidable offense courtesy of Kobe Bryant, Nick Young, Carlos Boozer, Steve Nash and Jeremy Lin, they might fold on the Bulls' homecourt.

"Not sure if this has been out there, but radio in Chicago just said Bulls will host Lakers on Christmas Day," Pollakoff wrote on his August 12 tweet.

Dime Magazine discussed why this match-up would be just more than an exciting game. The mag wrote, "Okay, maybe there's justification for this holiday affair other than Boozer. Perhaps Bulls big man Pau Gasol facing his former team for the first time? Or the presence of rehabilitated superstars Derrick Rose and Kobe Bryant? Or, and this could be a long-shot, that Chicago and Los Angeles are two of the league's most popular teams?"

Although we wouldn't argue on Boozer, but Gasol's trade to the Bulls was a far more interesting angle to discuss.

In a report by LakersNation.com, Magic Johnson has revealed his conversation with Pau Gasol before he had signed to join the Bulls. Magic said that the veteran forward disclosed to him how he was sparely used in the team's offense last season, prompting him to switch jerseys. Serena Winters of the sports site tweeted on July 31st from Byron Scott's press conference, "Yesterday, Magic said he had a long conversation w/ Pau Gasol before he ultimately made his decision to continue career in Chicago."

"Magic: 'He (Pau) was really hurt by the way he was treated.' Specifically how he was mis-used last year, 'He could never get over that,'" she added in another tweet.

Gasol's playtime had no doubt been the main factor for his disappointing average since his 2010-2011 season. From 37.4 minutes player per game, Gasol only recorded 31.4 minutes in his last year as a Laker.

ESPN said that it would be interesting to see what Gasol would be bringing to his new team should the reports about the Lakers and Bulls playing on Christmas day be true. Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles said that aside from being a kindhearted guy to his team and team staff off-court, he was key to Bryant's improved game by pushing him to spend more time in "Black Swan" mode.

"Gasol made Bryant a better teammate, coming to L.A. on the heels of Bryant's most dominant individual run of his career and reminding him that he can't do it all alone, even if Bryant was one of only two men to ever score 80-plus points in a game," McMenamin wrote.

Apart from the Lakers-Bulls match-up, there are also reports of Miami Heat hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors playing against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center, Dime said. What a wonderful Christmas we would be having this year.
