Back in December 2013, the actress, who will play the iconic female All-American superhero, Wonder Woman, was announced - and she's not even born in the country whose flag is the basis of the character's costume design. But nobody really made the fuss about the fact that the chosen star, Gal Gadot, is Israeli. Rather, some critics have chosen to focus on her "too skinny" figure and "lack of curves."

Perhaps that's because they were still comparing her to Lynda Carter's take on the heroine, and her impressive womanly physique. Not that the former Miss Israel was wanting in physical feminine appeal.

However, Gal did not take the uncalled-for criticisms meekly. She hit back by saying that she represents "the Wonder Women of the new world," not the Lynda Carter-era Wonder Woman. "'By the way, Wonder Woman is Amazonian, and historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I'd really go 'by the book,' it'd be problematic," The Daily Mail quoted the actress as saying.

She also said that she will not pile on the pounds for her role, but will instead improve her muscle tone. "[The] physical preparations that I'm starting now [is a] very serious training regime - Kung Fu, kickboxing, swords, jujutsu, Brazilian," the 29-year-old former sports trainer said.

And now, we're seeing the fruits of her labor for the first time, as "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" director, Zack Snyder, shared a photo of Gal in full modern, Wonder Woman costume last Saturday.

"Quite frankly, she looks like... well, Wonder Woman," Forbes observed. "It's a little crazy that we're getting official images of this nature two years out from release, but that is the culture of entertainment news."

Gal can be seen standing on a rock amidst a fiery, volcanic background. She is wielding a sword in one hand and is giving a fierce stare in the distance. Her costume, surprisingly, is a far cry from the red-gold-and-blue motif of the original Wonder Woman. It has brown tones and apparently is made of leather, with thigh high boots, gold headband and wristbands to match.

What do you think of the new Wonder Woman?

Meanwhile, the "Batman vs. Superman" teaser trailer was revealed during SDCC 2014, sending audiences into a whooping frenzy. The leaked clip, which has since been taken down on YouTube, can still be seen here.

"The short teaser opens with Batman in a full armor suit from Frank Miller's 'The Dark Knight Returns,'" SlashFilm described. "Glowing eyes, very mechanical, it's pouring rain he pulls down a lever on something and we realize it's the Bat Signal. It has the new Batman logo (reminiscent of the one from Miller's comic)."

"The camera slowly pans up to reveal the signal projected in the air but right in the middle of it: Superman," the site continued. "He's illuminated in the sky amongst the pouring rain with his red glowing eyes. Cut back to Batman, staring right back at Superman with his blue glowing eyes and we cut to the logo."

"Batman vs. Superman" will be playing in theaters on May 6, 2016.
