The small screen is not a new acting medium for Justin Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel. It can be recalled that one of her first gigs in the entertainment industry was a long-running role as the second oldest child in TV series "7th Heaven," which ran from 1996 to 2007.

Jessica has since moved on to the big screen, starring in one movie after another. Lest some of us forget her beginnings, she has since taken the opportunity to appear on the boob tube once more, this time in "New Girl."

While the 32-year-old actress obviously is BFF-able, her role in the hit Fox show puts her at odds with the series protagonist, Jess, played by Zooey Deschanel, E! News said. Apparently, she appears to be a real threat as Biel will be guest starring as "the hottest scientist in the world."

"The lucky Mrs. Justin Timberlake, who last appeared on TV when she was on '7th Heaven,' will play an obstacle in Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) mission to get lucky at a wedding," the site added.

Thankfully for Jess' fans, Biel's hot scientist character is "currently only booked for one episode," which is the season four premiere of the show, Variety reported.

Who knows, if viewers love the "Total Recall" star's appearance, she might just as well be signed on for one (or more) episodes.

"Biel spent 10 years on the hit show '7th Heaven' as older sister Mary Camden, but since she exited the sitcom in 2006, the actress has stuck to films like 2006's 'The Illusionist,' 2007's 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry,' and 2010's 'Valentine's Day,'" Us Weekly noted. She is also "set to star in the romantic comedy 'Nailed' with Jake Gyllenhaal and James Marsden that hits theaters later this year."

On Jess' continued unlucky streak in the romance department, it looks like she and Nick won't be back together anytime soon, E! Online said. However, the show's boss, Liz Meriwether, said that all is not lost for the couple.

"I love them together and I don't think it's it for them at all," she previously revealed. "I've never been in a good relationship ... I just found that it's been easier for me to write them as single idiots out in the world trying to get laid and looking for love."

"I had trouble figuring out where the conflict and comedy was coming from with them last season. Admittedly, it's definitely fun to keep them apart for more," she added.

"New Girl" will be back on air on September 16th.
