More characters are being added to the new video game "WWE 2K15", which is set to release in October 2014. Openly gay wrestler Darren Young was the latest addition to the popular pro wrestling series.
The game creator and developer, 2K Sports, announced at the GaymerX convention on July 11, 2014 that Young will be their latest addition to the 2015 roster. 2K Sports tweeted, "We're at @GaymerX this weekend, welcoming @WWE Superstar and guest of honor, @DarrenYoungWWE, to the #WWE2K15 roster!"
Young will join other familiar names in the sport such as Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Cesaro and Naomi and AJ Lee. More WWE stars are expected to be part of the game, such as Daniel Bryan and Cameron, according to Attack of the Fan Boy.
Darren Young gained a lot of attention after being the first openly gay professional wrestler. Other wrestlers followed and also shared that they were gay, such as Pat Patterson. The growing number of professional athletes admitting to be gay has been the subject of media reports lately. Athletes in the NBA and NFL have admitted being gay as well.
Other things to expect in the new game, which will be available in platforms like PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360, include commentators Jerry "The King" Lawler and Michael Cole, as well as manager Paul Heyman. Jim Ross will not be available in "WWE 2K15".
Darren "Fred" Young is an American professional wrestler standing 6'1" and weighs 239 pounds. He used to compete in the East Coast Wrestling Association and the National Wrestling Alliance. He debuted in WWE NXT and has since appeared in WWE RAW. After announcing that he is gay, he acquired the support of fellow wrestlers like John Cena. He also inspired Orlando Jordan and Chris Kanyon to open up about their sexuality.
In a report by Cage Side Seats, Sting will also return in "WWE 2K15" for gamers who pre-order the game. The official release of the game will be on October 28, 2014 in North American and October 31 in international stores. Sting will be playable via two special playable characters. The first features his early appearance in the sport with bright colors and the flattop hair. The second character is the more popular look of Sting, with the black-and-white face paint and deathly aura.
Sting said, "The only thing for sure about Sting is nothing's for sure, except my debut in 'WWE 2K15'".
