NBA Trade Rumors: Jeremy Lin Posts Lakers Photo; 'Sad' to Leave Houston?

After Jeremy Lin was officially traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, he turned to Instagram on July 13 to express his feelings about the recent move.

He stated, "Thank you to Houston fans, media, Rockets staff, coaches and teammates for the last 2 years! Said it never went, or ended, the way I had envisioned it to, but God always has a perfect plan and I'll forever cherish that chapter of my life. Im SO blessed to join the Laker and cant wait to get started!!! #purpleandgold #calikid".

The Houston Rockets let go of a number of players in an attempt which would supposedly bring in Miami Heat's Chris Bosh. Jeremy Lin was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers while Chandler Parsons was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. Teammate Beverly expressed his sadness over the departure of Parsons and Lin. Lin's reaction to the way matters transpired can be described more as "disappointed" than "sad". It was clearer, two years ago, that he was very sad about having been traded by the Knicks.

In a report by Opposing Views, Lin expressed his disappointment after seeing the Rockets try to woo Knicks star Carmelo Anthony into joining them by making a giant poster of the small forward in Lin's No. 7 jersey. The Rockets have been wanting to trade Lin as early as February 2014 and Lin was initially quiet about the entire scheme.

Lin shared that he would rather focus on his game and try to be the best sixth man in the league, with Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs as his ideal player. However, when more news surfaced that the Rockets were almost trying everything just to get rid of him, Lin shared his disappointment, saying that he is only human and he did feel sad about the whole plan.

Lin previously shared how he was sad about the idea of the New York Knicks trading him off to Houston shortly after "Linsanity." He wanted to stay in New York and expected New York to match Houston's offer, considering how he stepped up in those times. New York, however, was not willing to match the sum so Lin transferred.

According to Forbes, Lin is losing value quickly, although he may gain more fans, especially Asians, in Los Angeles since he was born there. Although he did make a hefty sum out of his contract in Houston, NBA experts speculate that he may be offered much less after his tenure with the Lakers. Linsanity has not resurfaced for years and more quality point guards are entering the NBA every year.
