It's been a year since Gleeks and entertainment industry observers were rocked by the news of the untimely death of actor Cory Monteith, who also was known to many as his "Glee" co-star Lea Michele's boyfriend. His passing also reminded Hollywood denizens of the dangers of substance abuse, as the 31-year-old Canadian "fatally overdosed on a mix of heroin and alcohol in a Vancouver hotel" at this time last year, Mashable noted.

"Lea Michele marked the anniversary of his death on Sunday with an emotional tweet to her 4.4 million followers," the site added. "The tweet, which ended with a heart emoji, is accompanied by a photo of Monteith holding Michele in his arms."

"We hold you in our hearts today, and every day we remember your smile. We will love you and miss you always," read Lea's tweet.

Despite the actress being reportedly involved in a new relationship recently, her social media memorial of former love Cory proved the actor, who played Finn Hudson in the comedy musical series, was still very much alive in her heart and mind.

"Producers of 'Glee' later worked Finn's death into a gut-wrenching episode that Michele and other costars filmed while still grieving Monteith's real-life death," Mashable said. "It was an emotional example of art imitating life, with scenes of onscreen and offscreen girlfriend, Rachel Berry (Michele), shown breaking down in tears."

Will we see a more melancholic Lea come July 13th? Or will she be spending the day crying on rumored current love Matthew Paetz's shoulder?

"She is going to make a mention of it on Twitter and Instagram but for most of the day she is going to mourn on her own time and keep her thoughts and feelings to herself," an insider allegedly close to the actress revealed to Hollywood Life. "She knows that Cory would want to live her life and that is exactly what she will be doing."

Lea is not the only "Glee" star who has remembered Cory's passing.

"I personally believe Cory was reborn into some other beautiful form a year ago today. I celebrate him and his life... Wherever that may be. Happy Birthday my friend....I miss you," tweeted Matthew Morrison, as noted by Us Weekly.

Meanwhile, "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy simply tweeted "Miss you" in honor of the fallen cast member, accompanying the post with a screenshot of Cory's name.

"It's been 1 whole year & it's still so surreal, but today is just a reminder of how damn great you were and how much you mean to us all," wrote Kevin McHale.

"I miss him terribly. I know you all miss him too. To Cory..." read Dianna Agron's Twitter post.
