If you're reading this piece, you've probably seen "X-Men: Days of Future Past" at least once. But did you stay long enough to catch that short bonus clip about 9 minutes into the closing credits at the end of the movie? It featured the formidable mutant Apocalypse, also known as En Sabah Nur, which means "the first one," according to The Daily Beast.

In the said footage, the mutant can be seen standing in the midst of a desert in front of a huge crowd of people. Both his hands are raised, apparently signifying that he was using his powers. When the camera pans out further, you can see huge blocks floating about, later forming into pyramids, which then tells you the scene is set in ancient Egypt.

Now, who is Apocalypse? Why all the fuss about this guy? Why is the next installment of the "X-Men" movie franchise focused on him? Read on to find out.

He's the First and He's Very, Very Old

But it doesn't show, judging by his youthful looks in the post-credit scene. Moviepilot said that he was born in 3000 B.C. with gray skin. That makes him 5,000 years old.

"He was abandoned by his parents only to be found by desert nomads, whose leader Bale recognized the child's potential powers and offered to raise the child as his own," the site noted. "Naming him En Sabah Nur he was instilled with tribe's philosophy based around the survival of the fittest."

Being the first mutant, as well as the fact that he was able to grab hold of alien technology early in his life, he has come to be known as a very powerful mutant. X-Men, beware.

He's Got a Lot of Abilities

"Apocalypse has an extensive list of amazing abilities - he has super strength, super speed, invulnerability, flight powers, teleportation skills, the ability to change his body's form at any time, the willpower to create force fields along with energy blasts, object manipulation powers that can be done with his mind and immortality," Heavy enumerated. Plus, his blood can heal other mutants, but can kill humans, according to Empire. This makes you wonder: how will our heroes beat him?

He Thinks He's God

"He has a god complex. That sounds like trouble," Empire observed. And he also thinks everyone else, except himself, is weak. Double trouble.

If we look back at other people with "god complex" throughout history, nothing good really came with individuals having this dangerous state of mind. The same is true with Apocalypse, who "spent the next several milleninium traveling around the world encouraging different civilizations to worship him as a god," Moviepilot said.

He's Fought with Dracula and Thor

"The character has, at various times, battled Vlad the Impaler and attempted to assassinate Queen Victoria," The Daily Beast said. He also tried to seek Thor in the past as he knew the god of thunder would cause him trouble in the future.

He Set Up the Four Horsemen for Himself

"The Four Horsemen are a rotating cast of characters, with the allegorical titles applied to the character inhabiting the role," the news source said. " At various times, those positions have been filled by Angel, the Hulk, and even Wolverine, who became the Horseman Death after having his adamantium skeleton forcibly removed by Magneto."

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated to be released on May 27, 2016.
