Harrison Ford was recently photographed using a supportive crutch, and this was due to a leg injury that the actor sustained less than three weeks ago. Shooting continued, but just after production went on a short hiatus to let Ford rest his leg injury, new information on Star Wars: Episode VII came to light about the cast.

According to Time Magazine, J.J. Abrams added two new cast members during the break: Crystal Clarke and Pip Andersen. Both came to Star Wars radar through a massive open call spanning 11 cities in the U.S. and U.K. More than 37,000 people attended the auditions, and an additional 30,000 posted online.

Clarke and Andersen bested them all.

But who are these people? Although not exactly the biggest names in cinema, Clarke is studying in an upcoming film titled "The Moon and the Sun" with Pierce Brosnan and William Hurt, while Andersen showed off some parkour skills in an ad for Sony, for Spider-Man.

But why cast starlets when the biggest stars would love to be in an iconic franchise?

Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm president a producer explained. "The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition."

She also added, "We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, it is still unclear what part the two will be playing in the film. A casting call from Chicago Tribune last November called for two characters, Rachel and Thomas, who were described as a "street smart, independent, athletic, natural beauty" and a man who has "grown up without a father's influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn't have the strongest sense of himself."

Other members of the sci-fi installment include Oscar Isaac, Max von Sydow, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, and Lupita Nyong'o. Cast members from the original trilogy will also be making an appearance, among which  are Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.

The film is currently shooting in London's Pinewood Studios, while it shot some scenes on location in Abu Dhabi last May. Despite Ford's injuries that landed him in the hospital, however, Disney executives believe that shooting will finish as scheduled this fall and will make it in time for the December 18, 2015 release date as promised.
