Is Taylor Lautner the next Red Ranger in the film adaptation of "Power Rangers"?

Unfortunately, this is still a rumor. But, if Lautner will snag the role, Fashion and Style believes the actor of "Twilight" fame won't have any trouble doing his own stunts.

The 21-year-old hunk was spotted scaling walls and jumping across buildings for BBC Three's comedy series "Cuckoo," the blog said.

Photos of the actor doing stunts for the UK series, obtained by Daily Mail, showed his amazing acrobatic skills. The actor looked buff even with his scraggly beard. He was also seen wearing a yellow beanie hat, perhaps to break the otherwise monotonous color of his grey shirt and jeans.

Daily Mail said Lautner is playing the unwanted American son-in-law of a couple in the BBC series. As Lautner's appearance signaled his first foray into television since finding fame in the popular vampire franchise, the producers of the series are hoping that the actor's appeal to his fans could boost the show's ratings. The Bafta-nominated show is on its second run in the U.K.

'Power Rangers' Dream Cast

Ever since Lionsgate announced its plans to produce a live-action film about "Power Rangers," rumors about who will don the suit of the coveted Red Ranger began swirling. MTV News even built a dream cast, with Liam Hemsworth as Red Ranger, Michael B. Jordan as Green/White Ranger, Chloe Grace Moretz as the Pink Ranger, Jack Gleeson as the Blue Ranger, Jamie Chung as the Yellow Ranger, Roshon Fegan as the Black Ranger, and Jason David Frank as the original Green Ranger in a mentor-type role.

But even before production starts, some critics are worried that the film industry may soon be out of "entertainment icons" to "recycle".

Scott Mendelson who writes for Forbes noted, "One of the reasons that Power Rangers was an iconic property to the six-year olds of the 1990′s is because it was their property. It wasn't a recycled variation of something their parents loved. As we see more mainstream entertainment dominated by revamped variations of properties from generations past, we risk creating a generation of children with no entertainment icons to call their own. The very thing that made a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie inevitable (plug the Power Rangers into the screenplay for the first X-Men and poof!) is also the thing that makes it just a little sad. We've basically strip-mined the 1980′s and now we're moving on to the 1990′s. At some point we're going to run out of past to recycle because we never bothered to create new iconic properties."
