What should we expect to happen in the next season of "Grey's Anatomy"? We now know for sure that Katherine Heigl will definitely not be back in Season 11, as confirmed by the show's executive producer Shonda Rhimes, Enstarz reported.

According to the entertainment news site, a fan had tweeted the producer, asking whether Dr. Izzie Stevens, which Heigl played, will be back. Rhimes said that she definitely won't because Heigl is "probably not coming back."

So, what's going to happen in season 11, then? Wet Paint mused about 5 things that could happen (or could not) in the upcoming series of episodes.

Cristina Replacement

Sandra Oh's character, Cristina Yang, is a unique one. As such, the show's writers could do audiences a big facor by not casting another actor for the role and, instead, just introduce a new one or simply leave the void to play out and be part of the setup, and also milk as much meaningful scenarios out of it as they can, like showing how Mer copes without her or how Owen manages to move on.

MerDer Fight Resolution

Meredith and Derek had a fight at the end of Season 10 and it appears it's going to extend into Season 11. Fine, but who wants to see this play out well into three quarters of the upcoming season? Or who wants to see them let the fight go on for longer than a day, at all? Especially considering the fact that they, particulary Meredith, already have a lot to deal with, in the first place.

Addison Resurrection

Who doesn't admire this briliant neonatal surgeon? She's an interesting character that not a few would like to see return to "Grey's Anatomy," even for just an episode or so. Will she be in Season 11? That remains to be seen, but there's always reason to hope for this every season.

Maggie Pierce Shakeup

Ellis Grey's "previously unheard of daughter whom she gave up for adoption" is an interesting addition and makes for good drama, if the writers get things right plotwise. Maggie's inclusion is ripe for a lot of interesting scenarios, so it's possible this will be exploited in the next season.

More Jo and Stephanie

The residents have all been narrowed down to these two, so it's only natural to see more development of these characters.
