Sony isn't really known to do budget phones - that's more the realm of Samsung. However, with the increasingly aggressive and competitive environment in the tech industry, Sony need to step up its efforts to stay in the lead pack and keep up. And it has responded to this challenge via the Sony Xperia C, which has been described by Gamer Headlines as "a phone that looks great and might just work great."

Could this be actually better than Samsung's Galaxy Grand 2?

Let's talk about the camera.

Although Samsung's Galaxy Grand 2 camera is at 8 MP, like the Xperia C, the photo quality is not as good due to the lack of HDR, which the Sony model has.

"However, when it comes to video recording, the Galaxy Grand 2 is a clear winner, not only because it lets you record at 1080p and 30FPS, but because of the stereo sound recording," the review site reported. "Its secondary camera is more powerful as well, as it is 1.9 MP, yet the video conferencing quality isn't much different."

On the other hand, Xperia C's video recording feature "does not support HDR," although "the video stabilization feature makes it easy to record in various situations at a 1080p video quality." Sony's smartphone also has a secondary camera, albeit a VGA one, which still enables video conferencing.

Considering the lower cost of the Xperia C compared to its Samsung rival, you get great photographic quality for such a price. As such, the Xperia C trumps the Galaxy Grand 2 in terms of camera quality. However, the former's pixelated display proves to be a significant chink in its armor, although the quad-core processor does help even things out. Overall, both devices are pretty much at par with each other and perform decently, nonetheless.
