American actor Michael Jace, better known for his role as one of the policemen in the TV show "The Shield" was arrested on Monday night, suspected of murdering his wife by shooting her.

According to CNN, 51-year-old Jace was arrested yesterday by officers of the Los Angeles Police Department, after many neighbors reported an incident of domestic violence at a house in Hyde Park.

Lyman Doster, an LAPD detected, told the media that the woman was found dead inside the house shortly after 8:30 p.m., local time. The actor of the popular TV show confessed to the officers that he had shot his wife, 40-year-old April Jace, inside their home in the Hyde Park neighborhood.

"I shot my woman," is what the actor allegedly told the officers, according to the website of the Daily Mail.

The same source highlighted that it seems that the couple's two children, both of them 10 years old, had witnessed the incident and were taken in a disturbed state to the police station so they could make a statement on the incident.

Jace was arrested and later on, charges were raised against him for the murder of his wife. The police have confirmed that the actor has been cooperative throughout the process.

For the moment, investigators are trying to figure out if the incident was an accident or a homicide. Police officer Sara Faden told the Los Angeles Times that "It seems that everything began as a domestic dispute," however, the investigation is ongoing.

With over 22 years of experience, actor Michael Jace was in 89 episodes of the show "The Shield" where he played a police officer in a Los Angeles station who eventually gets promoted to detective in 2008.

Jace participated in other shows like "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation", "Private Practice" and "The Mentalist", among others.
