Video game makers predict a very big future for the highly-anticipated video game "Watch Dogs," IGN revealed in a report. Ubisoft Chief Executive Officer Yves Guillemot said that the company has a shipping and sales target of 6.3 million copies. The revelation was made known during a conference call on Thursday last week. It has been said that the figure was based on the success of the company's mega-hit video game "Assassin's Creed."

"'Watch Dogs' pre-orders are at record levels and it is perfectly positioned to become the industry's most successful new IP in history," Guillemot had stated.

GameStop said that the "Assassin's Creed" franchise has clocked in around 73 million in sold copies worldwide. The video game is followed by "Just Dance" at a distant second at 48 million, then "Splinter Cell" at 30 million.

The Epoch Times said "Watch Dogs" is set for a May 27 release this year for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez also added Guillemot's high hopes for "Watch Dogs," and said that the new video game could be a brand to be reckoned with.

"Very clearly, the priority today is to release the game, and make it a success. Of course we believe it has the power and the potential to become a longstanding brand for Ubisoft. At this stage we don't have any announcements to make to say whether it's going to be one, two, or three years. I think at first we have to care about making it a success," he said.

If there's any indication of "Watch Dogs"'s success, it would be based on strong pre-order sales. Ubisoft Senior VP of Sales and Marketing Tony Key said to PlayStation Lifestyle, "These strong pre-orders are a clear indication of players' anticipation and excitement for 'Watch Dogs'. The teams have worked tirelessly to ensure that players will enjoy a top quality game with enormous scope, and we can't wait to get the game into their hands."
