Before you start playing Eminem's "Headlights' video, you should have a piece of tissue or two in hand - especially if you're a mom.

That's because the 41-year-old rapper has created the clip with the intention of using it to publicly apologize to his own mother, Debbie Mathers, who also is the subject of some of the hateful lyrics he has included in a number of his songs in the past. And the results are apparently moving and apt for Mother's Day.

"The video for 'Headlights' is told in first-person via the eyes of Debbie Mathers. You'll see security guards refuse to let her contact Eminem at his home," Mashable said. "You'll see her turn to drugs and alcohol to cope. You'll see her look at old photos of Eminem a.k.a Marshall Mathers. But then, you'll see the 41-year-old rapper forgive her - with a hug and letter."

In the song, Eminem rapped:

I went in headfirst / Never thinking about who what I said hurt, in what verse / My mom probably got it the worst / The brunt of it, but as stubborn as we are / Did I take it too far? / "Cleaning Out My Closet" and all them other songs / But regardless I don't hate you 'cause, Ma, / You're still beautiful to me, 'cause you're my mom

Nate Ruess of Fun contributed to the track with his vocals; Spike Lee directed the video, which was shot in Detroit, where Eminem and his mother Debbie's rocky relationship began.

This sort of reconciliation is something worth celebrating about. Here's hoping it lasts!

Previously, Debbie has released a memoir about her famous son, called "My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem." According to MTV, she attempted to "set the record straight" about her relationship with him through the book. Did this help encourage a much-needed reconciliation?

So, what do you think about Eminem's special "mom apology" video?
