The successful Telemundo show which presents the lives of drug kingpins returns to TV with its second season, continuing the story of a man who after "being nobody" becomes one of the most powerful criminals.

The second season of "Señor de los cielos" featuring Rafael Amaya, who stars in the show, will premiere in the United States in late Maye, at 10:00 p.m. through Telemundo, with a cast comprised by Marlene Favela, Carmen Villalobos, Ximena Herrera, Fernanda Castillo, Ruy Senderos, Raúl Méndez and Mauricio Ochman.

In an interview with EFE, Amaya said that "El señor de los cielos" is a project which stars a ficticious character, manipulating time and space to avoid speaking of Amado Carrillo directo (leader of the Juárez cartel), starring Aurelio Casillas.

"El señor de los cielos seems to me like he is God, then we're not pointing at anyone, or praising anything, or anyone, we just simply tell the story of a man who after being nobody, being nothing, becomes one of the most dangerous criminals," said the actor, quoted by Telemundo.

The actor added that the second season of the show is one of the most expensive productions for the network, with more realistic scenes, assuring that the new episodes will have less "flat" characters as a part of a new format, a new genre of telenovela which gives continuity to the movement which caused a wave of euphoria among Latino audiences in the United States.

The team of actors interviewed in Beverly Hills denied that narconovelas are a medium which promotes organized crime, dismissing that "El señor de los cielos" is a project that makes audiences want to be drug dealers," said Fernanda Carrillo.

"People don't act out what they see on TV, I think that people make their decisions based on their education, where they grew up and their surroundings," said the actress.

The telenovela, filmed in Mexico, has 75 episodes in its second season, financed by American investors who seek to promote the subject of drug trafficking and raising awareness of the real risks of living this lifestyle.

Narconovelas have had much acceptance in Latino audiences. Telemundo has developed this new genre of telenovela with projects like "El Capo", "La reina del sur", "Pablo Escobar" and recently, "Camelia la Texana".

"El señor de los cielos" is a telenovela which references the life of drug trafficker Amado Carrillo Fuentes, the leader of the Juárez cartel who was nicknamed so. Carrillo Fuentes was one of the most wanted drug trafficker in Mexico and the US for being one of the main leaders of organized crime in the border between the two countries.

"El señor de los cielos" died in a hospital in Mexico City on Feb. 5, 1997 after undergoing a plastic surgery to change his face.
