Microsoft Xbox head Phil Spencer has confirmed that saves can be transferred from the title's Xbox 360 to the current-gen version.

Spencer made the reveal on Twitter, saying, "After months of teaming up with Mojang, we can confirm that Minecraft X360 Edition will save transfer to Xbox One Edition...more news soon!"

One of the favorite PC and now, past-gen console titles, "Minecraft" has been confirmed to head to current-gen consoles, dropping on Microsoft's game box, as well as Sony's PS4 and PS Vita.

GameRant notes that although Spencer has confirmed that Xbox 360 saves can be transferred to the Xbox One, the question still lies on "how gamers will go about moving their saves from one console to another."

The International Business Times says that save transfers were initially thought of as a difficult though possible feat for developers. The outlet cites "differences in features and architectures of the Xbox One and Xbox 360" as one of the underlying factors for the perceived difficulty.

Save transfers from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One is one thing confirmed for the upcoming current-gen version of "Minecraft." However, the release date for the said version is still up in the air.

In a previous report by IGN, Spencer revealed that the release date for "Minecraft" Xbox One edition is completely 4J Studios' discretion.

"I talked to [4J Studios] last night. They feel really good about the progress that they're making. It's their game, and it'd be Mojang's game. We graciously host it on our platform," the Microsoft executive told IGN.

"They control the [release] date of that, but I'll tell people that we're getting really close. I talked with Notch [aka Mojang founder Markus Persson] last night, and they're really excited about the quality," he added.

"Minecraft" is currently available for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC/Mac, iOS and Android.
