A day after actress and 90s sweetheart Meg Ryan was cast as the narrator for the upcoming CBS pilot "How I Met Your Dad," E! Online has hatched a theory that would boggle the minds of those who have loved the actress' romantic comedy films. According to the entertainment news outlet, the "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff is actually television's version of "When Harry Met Sally."

So why does the "HIMYD" series feel like a Ryan-led romantic comedy for television? Here's why.

1. Ryan's name in the series is "future Sally"

The actress' name, despite only providing the voice of the narrator in the "HIMYM" spinoff is a dead giveaway that executive producers Craig Thomas and Carter Bays may have decided to produce a series that would be based on one of America's favorite romcoms. Ryan's name in "When Harry Met Sally" is, of course, Sally, and it would be interesting to find out if the longtime friends were able to keep their relationship and friendship intact after that New Year's Eve makeup kiss.

2. Actress Greta Gerwig, who will be playing the young Sally in the CBS-ordered series, is a "When Harry Met Sally" fan

In an interview with Vulture about the "HIMYM" series finale, Gerwig said about the Ted and Robin hookup at the end of the show, "I'm such a schmaltzy person. It's like, yes, I know that Annie Hall is the best ending of all time when they don't end up together. But really, in my heart of heart of hearts...I love in 'When Harry Met Sally' when they end up together."

3. HIMYD's location is in New York City, the same city where Harry and Sally's love story takes place

E! News noted that aside from the fact that New York City is the location of "When Harry Met Sally," Ryan's other popular romcoms, "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail," also took place in the iconic city.

4. Parallelism

TIME said that Ryan's role will be mirroring Bob Saget's from the original series. E! News noted that Future Sally will be telling her children the story of how she met their father, while in "When Harry Met Sally," Ryan's and Crystla's characters at one point are seen telling how they met in a sitdown interview.

5. Gerwig will also be writing on the show, while Thomas and Bays at one point had dreamt of tapping Ephron to be their HIMYM writer

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Thomas had wanted the "When Harry Met Sally" to write for HIMYM. It will no longer happen, as Ephron unfortunately passed away in 2012. But Thomas and Bays might just gotten their wish in the form of Gerwig, who told E! News in March that she will be contributing on the show.
